The National Pork Board, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, is responsible for overseeing the provision of consumer information, performing industry-related research and promotion of pork as a food product through its Pork Be Inspired advertising program.
The redesign and development of PorkBeInspired.com were to showcase the brand’s more than 2,000 pork-influenced recipes, along with a multitude of other Pork-specific consumer information. The site was built with a customized content management system for the NPB web team to easily update existing content, add new recipes and manage the content that changes on an almost daily basis.
A highlight of the site is the faceted navigation system for recipe search. Filterable selections include cut of pork, course (breakfast, appetizer, salad, side dish, main dish, etc.), cooking method, and type of cuisine. Recipes were also included in different season- or event-specific collections which were promoted via print and digital campaigns. These promotions included Summer BBQing, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and The Super Bowl, among others.
